The project is situated on Tuan Chau Island in Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Caye Sereno comprises of 18 signature villas located on a peninsula which straddles a marina to the north and Ha Long Bay to the south.
A landscaped walking path wraps around the development promoting healthy living in the sub-tropical environment. Three pocket parks provide residents with outdoor communal spaces to socialise and relax fostering a sense of intimate community.
Similar to the undulating iconic limestone rocks which projects above the serene waters of the bay, the design reiterates a dialogue of contrasts; of rough and smooth; of natural and man-made. Heavy granite walls forms party walls for each villa set in well-manicured lawns. A coarse concrete slab sits in contrast to the smooth clean lines of the white rendered walls. Dark basalt stone is laid throughout the floors providing continuity of space is interrupted by light bamboo flooring in the bedrooms.
Clear architectural lines and complementary materials ensure there is minimal interruption between the exterior and interior spaces. Specialist thin-framed glazing surrounds the internal spaces further emphasizing the visual spatial connection between inside and out.
The design of the buildings follows a minimalism architectural language using a sustainable material palette of fair-faced concrete, white rendered walls and bamboo cladding.
