The main design thesis was to address the issue of slum settlement inhabiting this prime site in the heart of the city of Addis Ababa, improving the quality of spatial planning and to give it an urban focus point.
Mixed-use spatial planning systems focus attention not only on the commercial activities, but also on residential development; therefore serving as employment generator producing economic and social resources through which material and cultural benefits are developed. At the nexus of the site are three vibrant colour-cladded towers; 35 storeys of apartments, 45-storeys of offices, and the tallest tower in Africa will be a 65-storey five star hotel with serviced apartments.
